How it works
How to export wine to Thailand with Asiavino
Online sale of wine is not allowed in Thailand
A 2020 notification of the Office of the Prime Minister forbids selling alcohol to consumers by electronic means, or inviting them to buy it that way. Asiavino therefore takes no orders and no order requests for wine in Thailand at present. Your brand and your wines can still be presented here, and Thai importers and distributors can find you and contact you.
Create your brand
Open a free Merchant Studio account and add your brand with its company details.
Add your wines
Send a bottle photograph and a technical sheet for each wine: Asiavino's team builds the wine page from them.
Name or find a distributor
Invite the importer or distributor that already carries your wines in this market. With no partner yet, Trade Connect shows your brand here and lets the trade contact you.
Sales stay with your importer
Buyers in Thailand cannot order or request your wines on Asiavino. Your importer sells them through its own licensed channels, and Asiavino sells no wine.

Finding a partner
How to find a wine importer or distributor in Thailand
Asiavino introduces your brand; it does not choose an importer for you and cannot promise you one. Importers and distributors in this market discover your wines and ask you for more, and the decision to work together stays between you and them.
Present your brand in full
Importers judge a brand by its range. Add your brand story and every wine with a bottle photograph and a technical sheet, and keep your commercial information ready for the first reply: export prices, available volumes and the markets you already serve.
Be visible before you have a distributor
With Trade Connect, your brand page and your wines are shown in this market, as in every Asiavino market, even though no distributor carries them yet. Buyers cannot send order requests for them there: the pages invite professionals to contact you instead.
Let professionals ask for more
With Trade Connect, importers, distributors, wine shops, restaurants and hotels can send you a trade enquiry from your wine pages and from articles about your brand: a price list, samples, a tasting or distribution rights. Once the sender has confirmed their email address, Asiavino passes the enquiry on to you and you reply directly.
Add the partner you choose
When an importer or distributor agrees to carry your wines in Thailand, add it in your Merchant Studio and it receives an invitation at once. Buyers here cannot send it order requests on Asiavino: it sells through its own licensed channels.

Already selling wine in Thailand? Support your local distributor
Asiavino works alongside the importer you already have. Buyers in Thailand read your wine pages in Thai or English and discover your brand, then buy through your importer's own licensed channels: no order is taken on Asiavino in Thailand.
Wine pages in the buyers' language
Asiavino's team builds a page for each wine from your technical sheet and translates it into the languages of the site, so buyers here read about your wines in the language they use.
Discovery of your brand
Buyers come across your wines as they browse the catalogue by region and grape variety. With Trade Connect, your brand page tells your story beside them.
Buyers who know where to find you
Buyers here read about your wines on Asiavino and buy them through your importer's own licensed channels. Asiavino takes no order in Thailand and no commission.
Before you start
What to know before exporting wine to Thailand
Import permission from the Excise Department
Liquor is imported into Thailand with the Excise Department's permission, requested before it arrives. For wine, the importer shows its category 1 liquor selling licence, an invoice or pro forma invoice and a sample of the label; once the request is approved, the Department grants a Liquor Import License.

A food import licence from the Thai FDA
Thai food law treats liquor as a food with prescribed quality standards, and the Food Act prohibits importing food for sale without a licence. Importers apply to the Food and Drug Administration through its e-Submission system.

Excise tax on wine
Since 23 February 2024, the Excise Department taxes grape wine and sparkling wine at a single rate of 5% of value plus 1,000 baht per litre of pure alcohol, so part of the tax follows the alcohol each wine contains. Your importer confirms the full tax for each wine, including any customs duty.
A label filed with the import, and a Thai warning
The label sample filed with the import request is printed in Thai or English and gives the importer's name and address, the product name, the alcohol content, the container size and the producer's name and address. The Ministry of Public Health also requires a boxed warning in Thai, in bold letters at least 5 millimetres high, that liquor may not be sold to anyone under 20.

General information, not legal advice: your importer handles the formalities.
Questions and answers
Do I need a Thai importer to sell wine in Thailand?
Yes. Importing wine takes the Excise Department's permission, which is granted to a holder of a category 1 liquor selling licence, and importing food for sale takes a licence from the Food and Drug Administration. Your importer holds these and handles the import formalities.
What does a wine importer handle in Thailand?
The importer holds the liquor selling licence and the food import licence, requests the Excise Department's permission before the wine arrives, files the label sample, pays the taxes due on import, and makes sure each bottle carries the Thai warning before it is sold.
How can I find a wine importer in Thailand?
Look for importers whose range and sales channels suit your wines: some supply hotels, restaurants and bars, others wine shops and retail. An importer in Thailand holds a liquor selling licence from the Excise Department and a food import licence from the Food and Drug Administration, so you can ask which it holds before agreeing terms. On Asiavino, Thai importers and distributors can discover your brand and send you an enquiry, and you decide whether to follow it up: Asiavino makes the introduction, it does not choose or guarantee a partner.
Can I promote my wines in Thailand before finding a distributor?
Yes, with Trade Connect. Your brand page and your wines are shown to visitors in Thailand, in Thai and English, even though no distributor carries them yet. They cannot send order requests for those wines: the pages offer a trade enquiry instead, and your dashboard shows which wines draw enquiries and from which types of business, so you can measure interest before you choose a partner.
Can I use Asiavino if I already have an importer in Thailand?
Yes, and it is free on Listing. Add your importer in the Merchant Studio so your wines are presented with it. Buyers in Thailand cannot send order requests on Asiavino, because selling alcohol to consumers online is not allowed there: your importer sells through its own licensed channels. Trade Connect is only needed if you also want a brand page and trade enquiries.
What information should I prepare for wine buyers in Thailand?
A technical sheet for each wine giving its alcohol content, since Thailand's excise tax on wine is partly charged on the alcohol it contains, and your label as it stands, so your importer can prepare the label sample for the Excise Department and add the Thai warning. Add an export price list, the volumes you can supply and your brand story with photographs. Importers often ask for samples before they decide, so say how you send them.
Does Asiavino import or sell my wine?
No. Asiavino does not buy, import or sell wine, and it takes no order requests for wine in Thailand. Here it presents your brand and your wines, and Thai importers and distributors can find you and contact you.
What does it cost?
Listing is free. Trade Connect, the paid plan, adds a brand page, visibility in markets where you have no distributor yet and enquiries from importers, distributors and trade buyers.
Who handles import formalities and duties?
The importer of record in the market. Asiavino does not import, so licences, customs declarations, duties and labelling are handled by your importer or distributor.
